New guided meditation coming soon............

For some time I have been looking round for a suitable piece of music for a new guided meditation that I have been feeling guided to write - I knew what I wanted to hear but finding it was proving difficult, I knew that I could write something but felt that did not serve the intention and so my search continued.

Last week I was trawling through the internet looking for items to use on the Optimum Living Channel when I happened across a piece of music that was over an hour in length and which fitted the bill exactly.

So this weekend I have been listening to this music and meditating with it, then jotting down notes about the directions I felt were appropriate and as I write this I have it playing in the background.

I am currently in the process of scripting the meditation which will be recorded between Yule and New Year.

So I am working towards an early January preview of the "Walking The Magickal Forest" meditation.

Will announce on here as soon as the preview is available.

Create a great day for yourself

Forthcoming Workshop in Ilfracombe

The New Year is fast approaching and how many of us will resort to the annual practice of New Year's Resolutions only to be disappointed because we didn't lose the weight or we didn't stop smoking etc etc ad nauseum.

Well there is a very good reason why we experience these results (or lack of depending on what your take is - but that is another story).

That reason is a mismatch between how we process information and how we go about .........

Want to know more? - then book a place on our January workshop where you will learn and be able to work with techniques created to give you the skills to see your resolution working.

We propose to run the workshop at the Littlebirds Therapy Centre on 26th January which is  the last Sunday in the month.  The cost is just £10 per person but places are strictly limited to 8 people so it will be a first come first served basis.

To reserve you place please call the moonshadow media phone on 07741 413456

Blast from the past - a tale with a twist

Going back to the early 1970s I had taken a giant leap of faith in my personal life and had moved 250 miles away from my family to set up home in Bristol and ultimately get married.  I won't bore you with the day to day but suffice to say that while I was there a friend from Cheshire used to visit regularly.

One weekend he arrived with girlfriend and as usual a few Newcastle Brown Ales were quaffed, guitars were played in a style ranging from good to complete rubbish the more alcohol we consumed.  He then said in a moment of extreme clarity - "tomorrow when we go to Weston I will play you a new 8 track I have bought"

Sure enough on that journey to Weston John played this 8 track and it was an instrumental piece called Tubular Bells by some guy called Mike Oldfield.  That was the start of a love affair with that album - i bought the album, bought the cassette, bought Tubular Bells 2 and various other incarnations over the years.  Alison my wife also fell in love with Tubular Bells over that weekend, but only the original version.

Now let us leap forwards 40 years to the year 2013 and I was contacted by a friend who suggested that I might like to make noises to a chap called Tom who had set up a record label called Viral Discs and Downloads.  The draw was the fact that Tom had revisited Tubular Bells.

My initial reaction to this was "hmmmm something to think about!"

So I put my radio head on and steeled up the courage to send an email asking this guy if he would be interested in taking part in an interview concerning the Tubular Bells remake.

Much to my surprise he replied that he would love to do an interview and we arranged the date and there follows the gist of the interview taken from an article published online by Go Articles.

Tom Newman interview with Dave Baxter of Cauldron FM and Capstone Radio
Tom Newman just wanted to be a rock star. Elvis Presley and Lonnie Donegan were two of his greatest influences. He joined a skiffle band in the late 50s and then in the 60s he graduated into a psychedelic rock band called July This band split up in 1969 and they lost all their equipment because their record label Major - Minor went into liquidation
A girl friend introduced Tom to a 19 year old guy who was creating a magazine for students and Tom admits that he thought this guy was gullible enough to want to start a record label. The young chap was one Richard Branson.
Richard went for the idea and Tom was given the task of buying a studio worth of 4 track recording equipment. They were going to use an old church in Holland Park, London but then Richard met George Martin (Beatles producer) who said that he was using 8 track, so Richard then told Tom to buy 8 track equipment. In a few months George had gone to 16 track and so Tom was told to follow.
After a while they found a place in Oxfordshire that was to become The Manor Recording Studios and Tom, as resident engineer, was working on a project with a young band that contained another 19 year old musician called Mike Oldfield.
Mike presented Tom with a 3inch reel of quarter inch tape that he had recorded on a tape deck borrowed from Kevin Ayres and this tape contained some fragmented instrumental pieces that were to become that basis of Tubular Bells.
About a year later Tom happened to play these pieces to Richards brother Simon and he was totally blown away by what he heard. The decision was then taken to persuade Richard that this could be the music to herald the new record label.
The Tubular Bells remake actually started to come together about 15 years ago because of a Bosnian cello player Vedran Smailovic later dubbed The cellist of Sarajevo who performed an amazing tribute to the victims of a massacre in one of the squares in Sarajevo.
An idea was formed that it might serve towards the peace movement if Vedran could record an album with a Serbian keyboard player. Tom Newman was asked to produce this album by Tommy Sands and whilst it began in a very amicable fashion it eventually deteriorated into a fight.
But the idea of world peace through the medium of music would not go away, and one day over a pint of whiskey it came about that Tom, who owned a decommissioned minesweeper should sail it to Ireland and that he and Tommy would set up a broadcast studio with the idea of making radio programmes, on a ship in neutral waters, with children from Protestant and Catholic backgrounds and from both Northern and Southern Ireland.
However, the political temperature prevented that from happening and so they decided that they would attempt to get the children together in their schools and make some music.
They approached the Northern Ireland Schools Board who liked the idea and got behind it, they even provided some funding for the project.
The whole process to create the recordings took from 2004 - 2012 for various reasons and along the way they found that there were schools that would not co-operate
Eventually once the project was on the way to completion Tom began the process of trying to secure interest from record labels but every one they approached turned them away, including Virgin. They all said that they could not see the project being a commercial success and that there was no interest in this sort of project now etc etc etc.
So Tom and Paul Brett decided that they would go it alone and set up their own record label - Viral Discs and Downloads (much as Richard and Tom did in the early 70s) to release the project.
Tom contacted Sir Richard Branson directly and explained the project to him and he immediately saw the potential of the concept - getting schoolchildren together to re-create classic albums in their own particular style.
And - Children of Irelands Tubular Bells is potentially the first of many revisited classic works.
At the time of writing this article I am preparing a broadcast of an interview with Tom Newman and his partner in Viral Discs and Downloads, Paul Brett, a musician with an impressive pedigree.

So without further ado, let me provide the links to the interview with Tom and Paul that followed this article and the full version of Tubular Bells by The Children of Ireland.

The interview is in two parts and this is the link to part 1 http://bit.ly/1fVTdRD

And this is the link to part 2  http://bit.ly/1bbw1qy

I hope that you enjoyed listening to that - and will now understand why I am so blown away by making this contact.

However, this is NOT the end of the story ................................

Moonshadow Media does more than just broadcast - we do other things as well

I have just been doing a bit of surfing the net looking for content for the Optimum Living Channel and rediscovered something that I thought was long gone.

A little over 2 years ago I was asked to record the voice over for a promotional video for a new album by Remi Orts Project and Zara Angel and I thought I would share it with you to demonstrate the voice over service we can offer for your promotional video.  There are one or two other promotional videos lurking about and as I come across them they will be added to this page but for now here is the Promo for The Mystic Land of Reza followed by one that Tom recorded for the Stingray RV company.

and this one for Carpetfresh of Ilfracombe shows that we are also able to source female voices for our clients

Karen Vogelin of Littlebirds Therapies contacted us in 2011 and asked us to help her with a video explaining her work.  Using her words and photographs this is her video.

Please contact us on moonshadowmedia@mail.com or call us on 07741 413456 if you have any voice over requirements and we will be happy to discuss with you,

Gremlins and The Fae in the works.

Hi and welcome to this latest update from Moonshadow Media and what a week it has proven to be thus far -

Capstone Radio on Monday the North Devon roundabout could not be broadcast owing to server issues at the host end of the line.  As soon as this righted itself Monday's show uploaded and I was all smiley again.  Tuesday's Roundabout and Wednesday's were broadcast on time.  However this morning (Wednesday) I have logged on to write this blog only to find that the Monday and Tuesday broadcasts are now blocked because Firefox (my browser) claims that the host site cannot be trusted.

Coaching Radio on Sunday I recorded two new broadcasts for this channel, continuing my serialisation of The Tao Te Ching (an ancient book of Chinese Wisdom).  However, these are currently "unavailable
for download" which means that I cannot edit them for broadcast.

Cauldron FM had a fantastic group meditation broadcast last evening and first indications are that it was clearly received around the globe which is exactly what I wanted to achieve.  The trip to Exeter to see the Coca Cola truck was a great success.  Would like to say "hi" to Kaz and John, Dawn, Alison and the man from the tapas street food stall.  Hope that you all have a fab Yule.

Ilfracombe TV  - new video launched on our worldtv channel but yesterday we kept receiving the message that the channel was untrusted.  However all seems good today - so if you have any videos that you would like to be considered for inclusion on the Ilfracombe TV channel please email us at moonshadowmedia@mail.com

Optimum Living Channel - We launched a new video commercial on the channel for something called "Karma Seeds" which we believe is a great concept and can only help serve our higher good.  We are still looking for new designs for the logo, don't forget that we are running a competition for you or your family to design our new logo.  Send your suggestions together with your contact details to moonshadowmedia@mail.com

Server still down and other things

Hi well it is 3.30pm on Monday 16th December and I am saddened to find that the server is still down and therefore we are unable to broadcast today's Roundabout show.  Hopefully we will be alive again tomorrow.

The weekend was a great success, l managed to record two shows one for Capstone Radio and the other for CauldronFM plus had a great piece of news from Ireland on Saturday morning.

The only down side to the whole weekend was that yesterday morning I got a parking ticket :( but then we went off to Exeter and had a great afternoon shopping, eatimg street food and taking photos of the Coca Cola truck.

Don't forget that the full moon meditation will go ahead tomorrow night - it will be broadcasting online at myradiostream.com/cauldronfm.  It begins at 7.30pm GMT (UTC) and takes approximately 40 mins. So hope to see you there

Prioritisation is the key

Well another day dawned at Dusty House studios and the mountain of work had grown to Everestine size while the available time to deadline was shrinking faster than the polar ice caps in the middle of a Saharan summer.

How was I going to get all that accomplished?  Where should I start?

Then I had what can only be called a lightbulb moment - let me take the one that has the longest lead in time and write that at the bottom of the list, then let's look at the next longest lead in, and the next and the next.

Then voila!!!! we have a list.  But not only a list - it was a list that clearly showed which job was the most pressing and which jobs, given the available studio time could be accomplished in the shortest time.

And so began the recording of the most pressing, which had to be edited and launched next week.  I found that after a systematic and realistic approach I got most of the show sorted in 3 hours which means that tonight I can concentrate on topping / tailing that one, then recording the shortest one which will probably only take about 15 minutes.  Leaving all day tomorrow to record a one hour show for Capstone Radio.

So yes Prioritisation is the key.....

NDBA Business Awards

Also here in Moonshadow Media land we are in a state of nervous anticipation because today is the NDBA Business Awards and as far as I am aware I am a contender in 3 categories.  The event starts later today and should all be over by mid afternoon, then I will know if I am celebrating or not this evening.

Optimum Living Channel  -

We are inviting people and/or businesses who have created videos on YouTube / vimeo that fit into the  following categories

self help, lifestyle, ecology, responsible living and energy consciousness / awareness

to send us their links so that we can include them in the programming on our worldtv.com channel.

In particular we would like to hear from people who have created programmes aimed specifically at educating children in these matters.

We are also offering businesses an opportunity to take paid advertising space on the channel as we move forward - please contact us using the email address below if you wish to pursue that opportunity.

Competition

We have also decided that it would be a great idea to hold a competition!

So here is what it is all about -

The new tv channel we are currently working on is called Optimum Living Channel and it would be great if someone out there could design a logo that we can use on all the branding.

The concept of the OLC is to promote self help, lifestyle, ecology, responsible living and energy consciousness / awareness.

The team involved with this project feel that it would show our commitment to involving people from all walks of life if we were to offer a prize to the person who in our opinion creates a logo that encompasses all of the above, but that can easily and simply reproduced and used.

The competition will be open to all ages and will be divided into 2 categories - under 18s / and over 18s.

The winner of each category will receive a £10 gift card for iTunes and the overall winner will have their logo placed on all our marketing and it will be placed in the opening spot of our worldtv channel.

We are going to run the competition until the 31st January 2014 so if you want to send your design to

Optimum Living Logo Competition
Moonshadow Media
6 Lee Place
Ilfracombe
Devon EX34 9BQ

or email it as a .jpg .png or similar to moonshadowmedia@mail.com

Please do not forget to include you contact information and state which category you are in.

Interview, new shows and other stuff

Hi and a fabulous Thursday to you all out there in listener / viewer land.

Last night's interview with Kit Addie was a real pleasure to do.  She made me feel so welcome and it would appear that we have a similar outlook on life - slightly skewed.  She told me several stories from her past, some of them had my sides aching with laughter but that she felt could not be repeated on air for fear of repercussions.  However the two that I did manage to use were brilliant.  It also transpires that I know her daughter Steph (she runs Larkstone Cafe in Ilfracombe) and that we also have several other acquaintances in common.

So anyway tonight I will be editing the interview and it should be available on line sometime tomorrow.

I am also starting to plan Cauldron FM's 2013 Yule show which goes into the recording phase on Saturday and the new Capstone Rocks show will be completed soon.   This show will be featuring music by Ardeth Bey (two tracks taken from their recent Ilfracombe Chill Bar session); Ange Hardy who I met at Dunster by Candlelight last Saturday; Whyte Raven and more.

On the Coaching Radio service I am working on a new short programme that will be detailing steps you can take to help achieve a positive mindset.

The Optimum Living Channel has seen new videos added in the past 24 hours so we now have a section devoted to Sacred Pregnancy videos and there are more to follow.

So that brings you more or less up to date except to say that on Sunday we will be heading off to Exeter in Moonshadow to see the Coca Cola truck(s) so we are hoping to grab some video of that trip.  If you are about and you spot Moonshadow on the "back" road to Exeter on Sunday morning give us a wave.

All that remains is for me to say that if there is anything that you would like us to include in our programmes, or if you want to take part in the unfolding story of Moonshadow Media please feel free to

give us a call on 07741 413456,
voice message us on the CoCo voice app to 514409,
tweet to @capstoneradio or @cauldronfm or @coaching radio
email to moonshadomedia@mail.com

and so I will look forward to hearing from you soon

Capstone Radio celebrates 100th follower and more news from Moonshadow Media

Today (Wednesday) Capstone Radio is celebrating the connection with Twitter member @makeagiftlist who has become our 100th follower.  We need people to join us on Facebook as well so if you are not already following us then please do so.

Coaching Radio has launched its first ever audio broadcast that has been taken from a video recording. Towards Shambhala - Mindfulness was first released as a video on the Optimum Living Channel but yesterday we took the decision to create an audio version for our friends and members who would rather listen than watch.  The link to the audio will be added to our Facebook content later this afternoon.

Tonight Dave is out interviewing a lady he met on the 1st December - she is heading up the Ilfracombe Marie Curie cancer care organisation so that promises to be an interesting conversation about how she became involved.

So if you see Moonshadow (see above) out and about today or in fact, any other day give us a wave and if you get chance pop over and speak to us then we can make sure you get a mention.

Moonshadow does look slightly different now because the MOT man said it was no longer acceptable to have the lettering on the windscreen so it has had to be moved onto the bonnet.

So thank you again to @makeagiftlist for being our 100th follower and if you want to join us then visit

Facebook - Capstone Radio or CauldronFM or The Official Coaching Radio

Welcome to the NEW blog of Moonshadow Media

Hi

Welcome to the new blog of Moonshadow Media - the home of Coaching Radio, Ilfracombe TV, Optimum Living Channel, Cauldron FM and Capstone Radio.

It has taken me a long time to get back to posting, mainly because for some strange reason all my previous blogs have been locked down and I cannot add to or edit anything already there - how bizarre!

So anyway since we last spoke there have been some changes and over the coming days I will bring you up to speed with what those changes actually are but first of all let me refresh you with the branding of the various sites so that you will recognise the logos when you see them

The list is not in order of preference or anything like that, but simply the channels as they are listed above

Coaching Radio

Ilfracombe TV

CauldronFM

Capstone Radio

There is no logo yet for the Optimum Living Channel as we are still trialling it and once we are totally happy with the way it works we will be adding the logo.

Finally to complete the set we have the Moonshadow Media logo

Currently the only fully streaming radio service we operate is CauldronFM and this can be found by visiting myradiostream.com/cauldronfm

Ilfracombetv has a streaming presence at the following address worldtv.com/ilfracombe_tv

So until the next time that I update this page there is something to be going on with.

Thank you for joining us
